Prosperity Preaching
« on: July 28, 2010, 11:15:48 PM »
Recently I visited the website of prosperity preacher Mike Murdock...  Out of curiosity I wanted to read his "statement faith" and was appalled at what I saw on another part of his website...  This is what it said...

Precious friend, thank you for Partnering with me!  " The Gospel is your greatest investment. Seed guarantees Divine Favor. Your Seed creates a covenant with God. Expect Uncommon Wisdom and the greatest Financial Breakthrough ever! The Size of Your Seed Always Determines The Size of Your Harvest."

1. "The Gospel is your greatest investment":  This statement put me thru the roof...  Christ paid the ultimate price for the believers...  I as a person have nothing to offer to the Gospel...  I was dead in my transgressions...   Saying the Gospel is an "investment" is demeaning and offensive...  I wonder if Murdock truly  realizes what Christ did on the Cross..

2. "Seed guarantees Divine Favor."  Murdock is joking right!!!  He cannot believe that by sowing a seed to his ministry that God will have favor on me...  Romans 9:14-15 come to mind...  What an arrogant statement Murdock makes...  It sounds as though he believes God can be bribed...

3. "Your Seed creates a covenant with God."  I won't even dignify that with a comment...

4. "Expect Uncommon Wisdom and the greatest Financial Breakthrough ever!"   Personally I go by faith on what I read in the Bible, I don't put expections on a Sovereign God!!!

5."The Size of Your Seed Always Determines The Size of Your Harvest."   Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we suppose to be "cheerfull givers"...  My tithes aren't given or determined on the size of the "Harvest" I expect in return...

He's not the only one that said some incredible heresies...  I find these so called preachers offensive and greedy...  How do they sleep at night???  I, for one, would be terrified to make such statements and Love God to much to even think of doing such a thing...

God has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith....James 2:5

How hard it is for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.....Mark 10:23

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness....Matt 6:33

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof....Psalm 24:1

Most folks desire to have wealth so that they do not need to worry about cares of life,
and to also consume it upon their earthly desires. This goes against depending upon God in faith for our needs, after all there is no money in heaven, only the provision of God. Because it can easily become an idol, and depended upon instead of God,  prosperity teachers are used as an easy trap by our enemy to entangle believers in lies and delusion!

Look at what is written upon our currency "In God We Trust"  put there as a reminder of not trusting in riches, but in GOD.

I recently spoke to out old folk on insurance and said "If someone offered insurance to guaranttee eternal life people would flock to buy it, but in the 1950s people had their bodies frozen, hoping that one day there would be a scientific breakthrough which would enable them to be resurrected.  In the middle ages people flocked to buy insurance that would give them and their relatives eternal life.  It was called indulgences.  But the bible says the GIFT of God is eternal life,"  I guess these people asking for "seeds" are just selling indulgences.

Here in the USA we have far more than our share of these false teachers and their gosped according to their word.

I wonder how many of the Apostles and early Christians lived in financial prosperity?

Over here is Jimmy Swaggart, Richard Roberts and a host of chrismatics/pentecostals and healer types getting rich. I think they say swaggarts home is worth ~15,000,000 USD w/RR to ride around in.

Their message: if you don't have it: it is because of sin in your life. They should go to the nursing homes and tell that message there.

I've seen older poor people in poor health and say, "how are you, I hope all is well; I'm fine" never speaking of "I" or complaining but pray and read their Bible.

That message of you would have more if ........... give to us, not some big Church down the road that hoards money. All the while they live high on the hog -------- they aren't allowed in the sheep fold.

I think Ezek. 34:3 would apply to them.

And what's wrong with tar and feathers? Just after a sound thrashing. Or braided ropes may work.

perhaps this kind of preaching is wrong but it is true that you can't out give God. He may not bless financially but he does bless in many many way.

Silver and gold; have we none................ but such as we have, we freely give.

I owe Him my life. His love if fully rewarding and beyond money. It's Christ Jesus' righteousness and none of my own.
